 Maybelle, draws its rich heritage from the legendary 5f6a Bassman, which is widely regarded as the most influential and iconic amplifier in the history of music. This remarkable journey began in 1951 with the introduction of the precision bass, a groundbreaking instrument that, at the time, lacked the proper amplification to truly showcase its potential. Initially, it was thought that the Pro with its 15 inch speaker would suffice, but it soon became evident that a dedicated bass amplifier was essential to meet the demands of musicians.

In 1952, the first version of this amp was launched, initially named "Amplifier," featuring a single 15-inch speaker. However, it didn't take long for its reputation to grow, leading to its renaming as the Bassman. The design continued to evolve, and by 1954, the Bassman saw a significant redesign; the single 15-inch speaker was replaced with a more suitable 4 x 10 configuration. This evolution was part of a broader trend among amplifiers of that era, as they underwent numerous changes and enhancements. Ultimately, the Bassman reached its pinnacle with the introduction of the 5f6a model in 1958, a version that many musicians and enthusiasts consider to be the greatest amplifier of all time.
